Nandina REM is creating new sources of advanced materials for manufacturing supply chains. We are an early stage company specialising in the use of deep tech and material science to recover and remanufacture critical resources, creating a rapidly developing market for low-emission circular materials such as carbon fibre composites and metals.

 

We are seeking an IT Systems Manager to drive the technical direction of both software development and IT operations for the organisation

 

You will have a particular focus on leveraging the Odoo ERP platform to optimise business processes, and work across a variety of other technologies and platforms, including cloud services, microservices, and DevOps pipelines.

 

This is a hands-on role that will balance the creation and leadership of a team of developers to build scalable, reliable inventory and supply chain traceability applications, with driving operational excellence across the company’s critical internal applications, and taking a key role in developing IT strategies that align with our commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture:

• Drive technical architecture, design, planning, and implementation of full-stack web and mobile applications, from front-end technologies (React, Angular, TypeScript) to back-end systems (Node.js, Express, RESTful APIs).

• Lead the customisation and implementation of the Odoo ERP platform, ensuring it supports critical business functions such as inventory management, finance, procurement, and sales in alignment with sustainability initiatives.

• Coordinate the Odoo ERP team to ensure that development, customisation, and integration work is aligned with business requirements, project timelines, and budget constraints.

• Develop IT strategies that align with the organisation’s business and sustainability goals, identifying technology needs, evaluating emerging technologies, and creating long-term infrastructure and systems plans.

• Leverage cloud technologies (e.g., AWS - API Gateway, DynamoDB, EC2, S3, Route53) and microservice architectures to build scalable, resilient applications that integrate with the Odoo ERP system.
   

Team Leadership:

• Build, lead and mentor a team including developers, project managers, subcontractors, and business analysts, ensuring their technical growth while fostering a collaborative and agile environment.

• Provide hands-on leadership by actively contributing to coding, debugging, and reviewing the team’s work, promoting best practices and ensuring the highest level of system quality, functionality, and alignment with environmental and sustainability standards.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to enhance their skills, stay up-to-date with Odoo ERP advancements, and explore new ways to optimise processes in line with sustainability initiatives.

• Collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders to customise Nandina REM’s supply chain traceability products and emissions data reporting, ensuring the delivery of projects on time and within budget, and meeting the required quality, functionality, and performance standards.
   

IT Operational Management:

• Develop and manage the IT department budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support business objectives and controlling costs, particularly in the context of Odoo ERP systems and cloud infrastructure.

• Oversee the performance, scalability, and optimisation of IT systems, including Odoo ERP, web applications, cloud infrastructure, and internal networks, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations for enhancements.

• Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures, particularly within the Odoo ERP system, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to data security, privacy, and sustainability, including ISO and other standards related to the energy transition.

• Lead IT risk management including identifying risks and vulnerabilities, developing and implementing mitigation strategies, especially within the context of cloud and ERP systems, and taking responsibility for disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

• Drive innovation and continuously evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks to stay ahead of industry trends, particularly those that enable energy efficiency and sustainability in IT operations.
   

Technical Support & Training:

• Provide technical support to internal teams, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, particularly those involving Odoo ERP integration and optimisation.

• Develop and deliver training programs for staff to ensure best practices in using IT systems, tools, and technologies, particularly around the Odoo ERP platform and sustainability-oriented IT solutions.

• Prepare and present regular reports on IT performance, project status, and key metrics to senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment with business goals.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Fluency in English.

• At least ten years experience in web development, with strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and hands-on experience in building responsive front-end applications using React or Angular.

• Proven experience of leading and mentoring diverse teams of developers and IT professionals, and managing operations, including budget allocations, project and contractor management, and risk management.

• Proven ability to define and drive IT strategies, evaluate emerging technologies, and ensure alignment of IT outputs with business objectives.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical external and internal stakeholders, including senior management.
