Circular Manufacturing Lead
Location: Singapore
Department: Operations
Nandina REM is creating new sources of advanced materials for manufacturing supply chains. We specialise in the use of deep tech and material science to recover and remanufacture critical resources, creating a rapidly developing market for low-emission circular materials such as carbon fibre composites and metals.
We are looking for a Circular Manufacturing Lead with three to five years of relevant experience to join our growing team in Singapore.
The Circular Manufacturing Lead will support the development, optimisation, and day-to-day operations of the carbon fibre recovery processes at our remanufacturing facility. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a team of technicians and operators to ensure material recovery techniques run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. Our carbon fibre recovery process focuses on the selective chemical degradation of the polymer resin matrix to recover high-modulus, clean carbon fibre with minimal structural damage. This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about sustainability, engineering, and material science, and who is eager to contribute to developing a circular economy.
Please note, candidates must have the legal right to work in Singapore. Nandina REM is unable to sponsor local work visas for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Process Operations:
-
Lead the day-to-day operations of the carbon fibre recovery process including the handling, preparation, and analysis of composite materials.
-
Develop solvent recovery techniques to ensure the economic viability and low LCA of the carbon fibre recovery process.
-
Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve any technical issues or process anomalies in real-time to implement corrective actions and process control measures to minimise downtime and maintain smooth operations.
-
Monitor and ensure compliance with internal material quality standards, and with environmental and safety regulations in the handling and processing of materials.
-
Assist in process documentation and maintain accurate records of process parameters, test results, and deviations.
-
Support product quality assurance through various carbon fibre testing protocols to validate tensile strength and surface properties.
Process Optimisation:
-
Monitor and analyse process performance to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
-
Develop and optimise matrix dissolution strategy for different carbon fibre composite feedstock batches.
-
Assess key performance indicators (KPIs) by conducting regular data collection, analysis, and process monitoring.
-
Support the scaling and optimisation of processes to enhance throughput while maintaining high-quality standards.
-
Maintain comprehensive documentary records of process data, process changes, and improvements, and report findings to senior engineers and management as part of continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process audits and reviews.
-
Assist in the preparation of technical reports and process performance analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
-
Work closely with the R&D team to test new materials, techniques, and technologies for carbon fibre recovery and remanufacturing.
-
Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure implementation of the latest safety and regulatory requirements, and other forms of compliance.
-
Assist in the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
Skills & Experience
-
Degree in Materials Engineering Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
-
Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or process optimisation role.
-
Hands-on experience in laboratory or industrial settings with a focus on process improvement and troubleshooting technical issues.
-
Familiarity with process control and manufacturing systems (e.g., monitoring systems, equipment calibration, and automated processes).
-
Experience designing batch or continuous flow reactors capable of handling bulky composite feedstock and liquid chemical environments.
-
Proficiency in designing fibre-liquid separation equipment.
-
Proficiency in computational tools to model solvent penetration into composite materials.
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills to report findings, process updates, and collaborate with both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
-
Experience in composite material processing, aerospace, or remanufacturing industries is preferred.
