
Compliance and Assurance Manager

Nandina REM is creating new sources of advanced materials for manufacturing supply chains. We are an early stage company specialising in the use of deep tech and material science to recover and remanufacture critical resources, creating a rapidly developing market for low-emission circular materials such as carbon fibre composites and metals.
We are looking for a Compliance and Assurance Manager with three to five years of relevant experience to join our growing team in Singapore.
We are seeking an experienced operational Compliance and Assurance Manager to lead comprehensive HSSE protocols across our operations and supply chain. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be instrumental in creating robust frameworks, proactively identifying compliance gaps, building effective solutions, and driving implementation to successfully pass customer audits. Your responsibilities will also include engaging with suppliers to ensure their compliance and conducting human rights assessments within our value chain. This is a hands-on role requiring strategic thinking, strong execution skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance Framework Development & Implementation:

Design, develop, and implement comprehensive HSSE frameworks, policies, procedures, and standards tailored to our manufacturing operations and aligned with relevant regulations and customer requirements.

Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities for HSSE across all operational functions.

Develop and deliver HSSE training programs to build awareness and competence across the organization.
Compliance Gap Identification & Risk Assessment:

Conduct thorough assessments of current operational practices to identify gaps in HSSE compliance against regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and customer audit standards.

Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and environmental impacts, and develop mitigation strategies.

Establish and maintain a system for tracking and managing HSSE-related risks and opportunities.
Proactive Solution Building & Implementation:

Develop and implement practical and effective solutions to address identified HSSE gaps and mitigate risks.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, etc.) to integrate HSSE considerations into operational processes and decision-making.

Drive the implementation of HSSE initiatives and monitor their effectiveness.
Customer Audit Preparation & Management:

Lead the preparation for and management of customer HSSE audits, ensuring all required documentation, processes, and personnel are ready.

Act as the primary point of contact during audits and manage follow-up actions to address any findings.

Continuously improve our HSSE systems based on audit results and customer feedback.
Supplier Engagement & Compliance:

Develop and implement a supplier HSSE compliance program, including communication of our standards and expectations.

Conduct assessments and audits of key suppliers to evaluate their HSSE performance and identify areas for improvement.

Collaborate with procurement to integrate HSSE criteria into supplier selection and management processes.
Enhanced Human Rights Assessment & Due Diligence:

Develop and implement a framework for conducting human rights assessments across our operations and supply chain.

Identify potential human rights risks and develop mitigation strategies in line with relevant international standards and best practices.

Engage with suppliers to understand their human rights practices and drive improvements where necessary.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

Establish key HSSE performance indicators (KPIs) and develop systems for tracking and reporting on progress.

Analyze HSSE data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for proactive intervention.

Prepare regular reports for management on HSSE performance and compliance status.
Incident Management & Investigation:

Develop and implement procedures for incident reporting, investigation, and analysis.

Lead or participate in incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP, ASP) are highly desirable.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in HSSE management within a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful HSSE programs.

Demonstrable experience in rapidly establishing HSSE protocols and successfully navigating customer audits is essential.

Proven ability to develop and implement HSSE frameworks, policies, and procedures from the ground up.

Experience in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and implementing control measures.

Direct experience in managing and engaging with suppliers on HSSE compliance.

Experience in conducting human rights assessments and implementing due diligence processes within a supply chain.

Proficiency in data driven insights and reporting.
