Finance Manager

Location: Southeast Asia, preferably Malaysia or Singapore

Nandina REM is creating new sources of advanced materials for manufacturing supply chains. We are an early stage company specialising in the use of deep tech and material science to recover and remanufacture critical resources, creating a rapidly developing market for low-emission circular materials such as carbon fibre composites and metals.

We are looking for a resourceful Finance Manager to oversee our financial growth.

In this role, you will report directly to the CFO and be instrumental in establishing robust financial processes, providing strategic insights and ensuring the financial health of the company. This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive individual capable of navigating the fast-paced and often ambiguous environment of a start up.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic decision-making.

  • Analyze financial performance against targets, identify variances, and provide insightful reports and recommendations to management.

  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing costs, efficiency, and profitability.

Accounting & Reporting:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and inventory costing.

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:

  • Develop and implement a robust cost accounting system to track manufacturing costs, analyze variances, and identify opportunities for cost optimization.

  • Oversee inventory management processes, ensuring accurate valuation and control of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

  • Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor and manage the company's cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and strategic initiatives.

  • Develop cash flow forecasts and implement strategies to optimize working capital.

Strategic Support:

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic initiatives, such as capital expenditures, new product development, and market expansion.

  • Drive development and implementation of company-wide policies and procedures.
     

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with significant exposure to cost accounting and inventory management within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing financial models, forecasts, and budgets.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (experience with XERO is a plus).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Build reporting frameworks and proactive hands-on approach to implementing accounting systems and change management. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
