NEW YORK, NY and SINGAPORE — July 2, 2026 — Odyssey Space (“Odyssey”) (https://www.odysseyspace.co/), a leader in advanced flight systems and orbital mission architecture, today announced the formation of an Procurement Directive and Strategic Supply Alliance with Singapore-based advanced materials innovator Nandina REM. As part of the partnership, Odyssey has secured access to Nandina REM’s ultra-low-cost, high-purity circular carbon and phenolic felt batting and yarns for aerospace, defense, and commercial space applications.
This landmark commercial agreement marks a paradigm shift in space-based R&D. The companies will initially focus on identifying and developing high-value opportunities across thermal protection systems, advanced space structures, orbital research infrastructure, and emerging commercial applications where lightweight, high-performance materials can improve manufacturing efficiency, supply-chain resilience, and mission performance.
“This agreement is about more than supply chain resilience – it directly addresses the financial friction that has historically limited the off-world economy,” said Jennifer Lopez, CEO of Odyssey. “For decades, the high cost and long lead times of specialized space-grade materials have constrained commercial space development. By securing this predictable, low-cost supply of high-purity materials from Nandina REM, our goal is to reduce a significant capital barrier. We believe this has the potential to provide commercial partners, from biopharmaceutical researchers and advanced manufacturers with the cost-effective orbital infrastructure required to scale up microgravity manufacturing, moving commercial spaceflight from a proof-of-concept phase into a viable industrial ecosystem.”
Historically, space-grade carbon and phenolic materials – which are critical for insulating spacecraft against extreme orbital temperatures and atmospheric re-entry – have been scarce, notoriously expensive, and plagued by long lead times. This partnership represents a pioneering cross-border bridge between US aerospace execution and Singapore material science innovation. Nandina REM has successfully commercialized a proprietary technology that reclaims carbon fiber from decommissioned aircraft, maintaining aerospace-grade mechanical integrity while drastically lowering manufacturing costs. By locking in this supply, Odyssey is the first space tech firm to successfully capitalize on aerospace circularity, pioneering a new commercial pathway turning the retired aviation fleets of yesterday into the affordable orbital laboratories of tomorrow.
“This agreement demonstrates that circular materials can meet the rigid performance standards required for deep-tech infrastructure,” said Karina Cady, CEO of Nandina REM. “Odyssey Space provides the advanced design and technical execution necessary to integrate our high-purity circular materials into future orbital platforms. By lowering material procurement barriers, we are helping the space industry and the life sciences sector reduce development costs and access space-based research environments with greater predictability.”
With commercial execution underway, the agreement significantly shrinks development timelines for upcoming Odyssey-managed orbital R&D payloads, creating a more cost-effective pathway for commercial, scientific, and government organizations to leverage space-based research, advanced manufacturing, and technology development across the life sciences, aerospace, defense, advanced materials, semiconductor, and energy sectors.
