
Product Technology Intern

Nandina REM is creating a new circular aviation industry. We are a high growth start-up in a rapidly developing market of low-emission critical materials for the energy transition. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Process Engineering Intern to join our Operations team to assist in optimising the recovery process of the carbon fibre from various composite materials including the management of the waste generated from the recovery process. You will also gain exposure to the redeployment process of other materials and components at the end of their life, such as metals, plastics, and textiles.

Qualifications Required:

Enrolment in or recent completion of a degree in Chemical Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.

Foundational understanding of the carbon fibre recovery process, with a focus on solvolysis. Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Python, or equivalent).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:

Knowledge of the carbon fibre recovery and remanufacturing industry

Experience with regulatory requirements for the handling, treatment, and disposal of waste generated from the process.

Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies.

Exposure to risk management and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
-
Optimising Solvolysis process to handle varying composite materials from aircraft, focusing on refining techniques for maximizing carbon fibre recovery from composites.

Participate in feedback sessions with R&D on Solvolysis process performance and areas for innovation.

Review environmental standards and regulations specific to recycling and hazardous material handling and develop a preliminary plan for waste minimization, focusing on solvent recovery and resin management.

Lifecycle Analysis (LCA) for the recovered carbon fibre.

Assist in conducting environmental audit focusing on waste management and disposal compliance with NEA, SCDF, and EPMA standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and financial implications.
