Singapore - [Date] - Nandina REM today announced the launch of SALIS, a new textile innovation sub-brand that transforms retired wool, leather, and other high-performance fibres into refined, market-ready textiles for fashion, furniture, and hospitality applications.

Rooted in the tagline “The Art of Reinvention,” SALIS marks the next chapter of Nandina REM’s innovation journey. While Nandina is known for enabling the redeployment of advanced materials from sectors such as aerospace, SALIS introduces a dedicated identity for industries where aesthetics, performance, and storytelling are essential.

Reimagining Materials for Modern Industries

SALIS gives renewed purpose to retired leather, wool, and other high-quality textiles sourced from often-overlooked sectors like aviation. Using Nandina REM’s fibre-to-fibre innovation, these materials are transformed into refined, market-ready textiles that balance performance, purpose, and design.

“As our work expands beyond composites into high-quality textiles, we saw a need for a brand that speaks directly to the worlds of fashion, furniture, and hospitality,” said Allison Nam, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer. “SALIS allows us to tailor our approach to industries that value strong storytelling, traceability, and elevated material performance, while Nandina REM continues driving systems-level innovation.”

Inspired by Rhipsalis - a resilient plant that thrives where others cannot - SALIS reflects adaptability, quiet strength, and reinvention. Its materials will be certified, verifiable, and backed by globally recognised standards, meeting growing demand for provenance and proof.

Materials, Merchandise, and Co-Creation

SALIS’ portfolio includes lightweight yarns, wool-blend fabrics, refined full-grain leather, and SALIS-designed merchandise such as travel pouches and hospitality items.

The brand is designed for mid-to-premium, design-forward companies that prioritise both aesthetics and material integrity. Target industries include fashion and apparel, furniture and home textiles, hospitality, F&B, and lifestyle brands. To support brands at different stages of adoption, SALIS offers three flexible partnership models:

  • Raw Material Supply – Certified SALIS textiles integrated into partner designs

  • Co-Branded Collaborations – Joint design and product development

  • White-Label Manufacturing – Finished goods produced using SALIS materials under the client’s brand

“Across all our conversations, brands want the same three things,” Nam added. “Materials that perform, materials that look good - and materials they can trust. SALIS delivers all three: high performance, strong design, and verifiable proof.

A Milestone in Nandina REM’s Innovation Journey

The launch of SALIS underscores Nandina REM’s commitment to building the next generation of advanced materials across multiple sectors.

SALIS is reinvention with intention,” said Karina Cady, Co-Founder and CEO of Nandina REM. “Bringing our material-recovery expertise into textiles allows us to serve new industries with materials that are engineered for modern applications and elevated in design - while staying true to our mission of enabling new sources of high-value materials.”
